BLUE ZONES PROJECT PERSONAL PLEDGE

We’re on a mission to have 1,000 Parkland-Spanaway residents pledge to live healthier by August 31, 2026

THE 5 STEPS

Follow these simple steps and pledge to make changes in your personal surroundings.

STEP 1.
LEARN

Read the best-selling book Blue Zones: Lessons for Living Longer from the People Who’ve Lived the Longest. We also recommend reading The Blue Zones Solution and watching Blue Zones founder Dan Buettner’s Ted Talk

STEP 2.
PARTICIPATE

Commit to participate in at least one activity below in the next six months:

  • Join a Blue Zones Project Moai.
  • Attend a Purpose Workshop.
  • Volunteer with Blue Zones Project or another organization in your community.
  • Become a Blue Zones Project Ambassador.

STEP 3.
PERSONAL CHECKLIST & 5 PROMISES

Select at least five actions from the list below that you will complete within the next six months.

STEP 4.
SIGN THE PLEDGE

Show the world that Parkland and Spanaway residents are committed to making the healthier choices, the easier choices!

STEP 5.
TAKE ACTION TODAY

Select one Power 9 activity that you will complete in the next 30 days.

Capture a picture or video of you completing the activity and share on social media using the #BZP1000 hashtag to join the movement!

PURPOSE: Volunteer and give back to your community

DOWNSHIFT: Journal, mediate, or work on a hobby that fills your cup

80% RULE: Control your portions by meal-prepping for 3 meals

PLANT SLANT: Cook/prepare one Blue Zones recipe at home

FRIENDS @ FIVE: Catch up with friends after work at a BZP Approved Restaurant (208 Garfield, Rise & Shine, Marvel Bay Cafe, Flying Tomato)

LOVED ONES FIRST: Spend intentional time with your family

BELONG: Attend one faith-based service or community event

POSITIVE PACK: Participate in one Blue Zones Project event
